Christ has said to us, that we ought to forgive our neighbors not only 7 times, but 70 times 7 times. If we are to forgive our neighbors so much, how much more would the great, infinite, Almighty God forgive us, especially with the whole Church, all the saints, the holy angels, and the Mother of God praying for us that He may bestow upon us the mercy He has promised? What a remarkable grace is forgiveness! How thoroughly undeserved the blood price paid on the Cross, not for any necessity, but for love? The most distressing sins are not always the worst, but those we return to often, the vomit we dogs love to eat. For indeed, this is to take advantage of the mercy, to say to God, "thank you, but I will be back in a little, I want the treats again and expect you to forgive me." God could have said, "you shall be forgiven but once," He could have denied us forgiveness, should we stack the same sin upon itself. But He has revealed us the truth, that for any sin, even the same sin, He will forgive us 70 times 7 times. There is one condition, but one: When you go to Confession, and declare your sins to the priest of God, standing as the representative of Christ, before He bestows the absolution of Our God upon you, you must be sorry, truly, absolutely sorry, with no qualification, no reservation, for the sins you have fallen back into. You must resolve to stop taking advantage of grace. If you do, the Most Blessed Trinity will forgive you, and make you holy, and this truth is always, always true. This mercy is ever on offer, even if we fall again, Heaven forbid. Prepare yourself, after Confession, to avoid the vomit, take the steps to conquer the habit, lest this enormity fall upon you again, lest you turn back upon Christ, and say, "I renounce your mercy." May God keep us all, and preserve us in hope, that He may dismiss us in peace. All ye Holy Angels and Saints, Pray for us! Amen.
